They play both kinds of music: Country & Western!
Another wonderful aspect of what I do is being witness to the evolution of bands and their various iterations. The Troubleweeds are a prime example of one such group. The man I blindly name as the founder of TW, Mr. Dave "Lowie" Lowenstein, was also co-frontman of the notorious Shoestring Strap. In a twist of fate, that band was dispersed indefinitely after bassist, Kent Stephens, up and started a family and mandolin player, Keith Tenzer, moved off to some foreign land. However, Dave—with a longing in his loins to continue the tradition of providing gristly honky-tonk twang to the masses of Ocean Beach—came back from a brief hiatus and enlisted the talents of like minded minstrels (Liz D'Annunzio, Mike DeEmedio, Rain Samuelson, Chuck Yearman and Brennan Buttah) to form the backbone of the Troubleweeds. Now, with a pantheon of the boot-scootinest batch of performers that the southwestern shores of Seaworld has ever seen, they've been able to revive our interest in country twang, tequila swiggin' and two-dollar PBRs.
