James Hill

James Hill is kind of a big deal in the ukulele world.  His mastery of the four-stringed instrument is remarkable and his performance is a "rip-snortin'" good time.  He is sincere about his music and in getting music into the hands of children.

I had the good fortune to record James live at the Museum of Making Music on January 26, 2008.  This same recording yielded sets from Joel Eckhaus, Sid Hausman, Travis Harrelson, Joe Souza, Victoria Vox, Tiki King and the Idol Pleasures as well as living legend Bill Tapia.  James' needs were easy to accommodate: a vocal mic and an input for his uke.   I threw on a condenser mic for presence.

This particular event, I was serving as soundman and stage manager.  Nick LaBran acted as my photographer and took the photo shown here.
